SCHOLARSHIP HONORARY

Dr. Lloren A. Foster

Lloren Addison Foster began his pursuit of higher education at Alcorn State University where he became a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. During this time he married his soulmate, Army National Guard Veteran Christine Williams. Lloren Foster an undergraduate collegiate ROTC Cadet, desired to continue his education culminated in completing his undergraduate education and receiving his Bachelor of Arts in English from Chicago State University in 1998. This inspired him to continue pursuing his passion for education and his desire to educate and uplift others. While completing his dissertation, Lloren received the opportunity to join the faculty of the English department at Hampton University. At Hampton, Lloren began to inspire, uplift and change the lives of his students. One student, in particular, was Athletes for Vets founder, Dereck Faulkner whom he taught and mentored since 2003.

His leadership and influence at Hampton opened the door for him to join the faculty of Western Kentucky University as an Assistant Professor of African-American Studies. It was at WKU where Lloren began to spread his wings and facilitate diversity and champion the spread of African-American educational theories across the country and around the world. His travels took him to many places, most notably Trinidad and Tobago, Dublin, Ireland and Cape Town, South Africa.

Life came full circle for the Fosters when an opportunity opened at his beloved Hampton University where Lloren accepted the position as Chair of the Department of English and Foreign Languages in August of 2017. On, October 2, 2017, Dr. Lloren Addison Foster left a legacy touching many and as an educator and spouse of a military veteran. The Athletes for Vets will honor his legacy with our college scholarship.
